Eyeshadow is so important because your eyes are such a prominent feature. Many people will notice your eyes first and you can encourage this by using eyeshadow to make your eyes look beautiful and sophisticated.

Types of Eyeshadow; Sheer eyeshadow will give you a tint of color. Keep in mind that it will look much darker in the container than on your eyelid. It is a great choice if you want to experiment with color without being overly dramatic. Use sheer eyeshadow if you want to achieve a sophisticated and subtle look. This type of shadow is perfect for all types of skin.

Shimmer eyeshadow is great for a sexy look. If you are feeling tired, applying a bit of shimmer shadow is the perfect way to brighten your eyes. Use a pearl or gold shade over the entire lid and on the corner of your eye, at your tear duct. If you have oily skin, use a water resistant cream shadow as a base before applying the shimmer eyeshadow. The base will keep your shimmer color in place throughout the day.

Cream eyeshadow is used when you want a glossy look. Creams come in many different eyeshadow shades so you have plenty of color choices. Make sure you keep the lid closed tightly because cream eyeshadows have a tendency to dry out quickly. Cream eyeshadows are convenient because you do not even need an eyeshadow brush to apply it. Simply use your finger to blend the shadow on your lid. Cream shadows are good if you have normal or dry skin because it has a creamy texture.

Matte eyeshadow is highly concentrated with pigment. Use a matte shadow if you want a strong, boldly colored look. If you are going out for the evening and want to try out a dramatic look, consider using a matte eyeshadow. Use a charcoal color over your lid and blend it upward into the crease. Before applying a matte shadow, dust on some sheer powder over your lid. This will prevent the matte shadow from clinging to any oily areas on your eye lid.

Liquid eyeshadow is used for a shimmering look. It also is great to use as a base for powdered shadows. Liquid shadows are not easy to find and the color choices are few. Like cream shadows, liquids can gather in the crease of your eyelid so they may not be suitable if you have oily skin.

Eyeshadow Tips; If you are using glittery or dark shadow, be sure to finish applying the shadow to your eyes before putting other makeup on your face. This way, you can wipe away any fallen specks of shadow without ruining the rest of your makeup.

Use a makeup remover to wipe away any unwanted particles that fell under your eyes or onto your cheeks. This is a good way to remove the shadow without tugging on the delicate skin around your eyes.

Eyeshadow history goes way back. Eyeshadow has been used by men and women for many centuries, and its use dates back to ancient Egypt and Greece. In Egypt, for example, dark dye was used to encircle the eye area to make both male and female eyes appear to have an almond shape. Sometimes a powder eyeshadow was used, and applied with a small stick.

In modern society, the application and use of eyeshadow are similar to its original uses in Egypt. Powder eyeshadow is the most popular form of eyeshadow, and it is typically applied with an eyeshadow brush that is flat on one end and covered on the other end with a small sponge. Powder eyeshadow can also be applied with a small eyeshadow brush, which comes in a variety of shapes depending upon the purpose of the eyeshadow. For example, darker shades are used for contouring and making eyes appear to have depth or dimension. Because contouring shades are usually applied in the crease of the eyelid, eyeshadow brushes for darker shades are typically smaller and more angled than other types of eyeshadow brushes.

Eyeshadow used for highlighting, in contrast, is typically seen in lighter shades, and often has a luminescent or shimmering effect. Highlighting eyeshadow is applied towards the top of the eyelid, or under the crease of the eyebrow, and therefore highlighting eyeshadow brushes are often larger and more flat shaped than contouring eyeshadow brushes.

Every cosmetics company in the United States carries a variety of shades and types of eyeshadow. Benefit eyeshadow, for example, can be purchased in a grease less cream formula which promises to blend thoroughly and prevent smudging, and it can be applies with a finger. Elizabeth Arden is another cosmetics company that carries a wide range of eyeshadows, and some of the most popular forms are sold in powder “quads,” which includes four shades of eyeshadow to enable both contouring and highlighting.

In deciding which eyeshadow is best and most appropriate, it is important for each individual to focus first on the color of their eyes. This serves as the starting point for the contouring shade. For example, if a woman intends to use a traditional look for make-up and she has brown eyes, she should seek an eyeshadow that includes as a contouring shade a brown color that is lighter than her iris color. Many makeup artists, however, advise that as makeup trends have changed over the years, it is entirely appropriate to wear contouring shades that do not match iris color. Brown eyes, for example, are complimented by green and violet shades of eyeshadow. When wearing less traditional colors, however, an individual must remember to shy away from extremely bright or sparkling eyeshadows, particularly for daytime looks. Eye shadow history continues to evolve into the future.

At its best, eyeshadow can make eyes look brighter, clearer and more dramatic. The right shade for you will depend on the color of your eyes, as well as your complexion. It seems that every season, the number of available eyeshadow colors and brands grows. While certain palettes will go into and out of style, there are also classic choices that will always remain chic. Whether you are looking for a new brand or color for Friday nights or the office, the following tips can help guide your search for the best eyeshadow shades and types for all occasions.

Multi-color eyeshadow palettes that are designed to bring out the natural color in your eyes have been around for years, and only continue to grow in popularity. Most of the palettes will contain at least three colors that, when applied according to the included guide, will make your natural eye color pop. For those with brown eyes, consider a set with green undertones that will make your brown eyes look more lively and bright. Anyone with green or hazel eyes should consider investing in <a href="http://theeyeshadow.com/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=45"title="" >violet eye shadow. While purple might seem a little much for day, most shades will look subdued and natural when applied. Blue eyes are naturally quite bright and prominent, so less may be more for women with blue eyes. Try light earth tones to offset your eye color for daytime and office wearing.

Smokey eyes can be seen on the runways and red carpets almost any season. This eyeshadow design will look good on almost anyone, regardless of the color of your eyes or your complexion. In order to get the perfect, Smokey look, combine smudged eyeliner with eyeshadow in grey or slate shades. If you would like to lighten this severe look, consider opting for eyeshadow that is flecked with a bit of glitter or sheen. This will make the eyes look a little brighter. If you are going to wear this look, always keep the rest of your make-up clean and simple to avoid looking overdone.

Powder eyeshadow is still one of the best selling cosmetics on the market. Powder shadows are generally easy to apply and long lasting, providing any amount of coverage the wearer desires. For the devotee of powder shadows, upgrading your eyeshadow brush is probably a good idea. While the included brushes will suffice for some, specialty brushes will allow greater control over application, will be softer on the eye lid, and will last much longer. Most of the leading cosmetic stores now offer full lines of professional quality brushes.

Cream eyeshadow has been traditionally favored by teens and younger women, but as more and more high quality cream shadows being introduced, there are now products to satisfy any taste. Cream shadows are great in that they may be easily applied with nothing more than a finger in a pinch. This makes them the perfect choice for long days when touch ups are necessary. For anyone who is looking for an eyeshadow with a sheen, cream eyeshadow may be your best option.

New eyeshadow is the least expensive way for anyone to update their look or buy into new trends.

Eyeshadow is a cosmetic that is commonly used to highlight the wearer’s eyes in order to make them more attractive. It adds dimension and depth to the eyes and draws attention to them by complimenting the color of the eyes.

Eyeshadow is available in many different types, colors and textures. From powder eyeshadow that is applied with an eyeshadow brush to cream eyeshadow that is applied with a swab, there are various effects that one can get from using eyeshadow. Eyeshadows are applied typically with a brush, finger or a sponge, and usually blended into the skin or another shade of color. Typically, a primer or base is first applied to help keep the eyeshadow in place, but it is also often applied directly to the eyelid. The base is blended gently into the area above the eye and a darker color is usually started at the lashes and blended upward into the base toward the crease of the eye or the eyebrow.

Because the distance from eyelashes to eyebrows is considerably greater in women then in men, adding a pale color to the eyelid makes the area appear larger which also makes it look more feminine.

Eyeshadow shades run the gamut from bold to pale, metallic to matte, and nearly every color and shade in between. It can be used to make a bold statement with glittering greens and peacock blues, or to enhance the natural coloration around the eye subtly with pale pinks and browns. Eyeshadow can be used to either add gloss or minimize shine.

There are many cosmetics manufacturers who make specialty eyeshadow and many women are likely to find a brand that they like that offers the colors and styles that they prefer and to use that brand exclusively. Some women favor Jane eyeshadow and others swear by Elizabeth Arden eyeshadow. There are women who will wear nothing but Maybelline, and others who are Cover Girl aficionados. Some brands of eyeshadow seem to compliment fair skin better while others look best on darker skin tones. Almay makes their Bright Eyes eyeshadow in a couple of different styles to best compliment skin tones of different shades. L’Oreal and Max Factor are popular brands that are commonly carried by department stores everywhere.

Eyeshadow that is eco-friendly and the environmentally conscious brands are becoming more common as people are starting to be more aware of the impact that is made on the universe by the products that they commonly use. Ecco Bella is one manufacturer that makes eyeshadow, which are all natural. Sorme, a French brand of cosmetics offers six shades of eyeshadow made without any talc, paraben or chemical dyes. NVEY has a remarkable two dozen shades of eyeshadow made with softest corn silk, coconut and palm oils and chamomile, jojoba and Vitamin E.

Whether a woman prefers creams or powders, pale shades or dark, all natural or chemically created eyeshadow, there are many brands that offer what any particular person is seeking. Made to enhance the beauty of the eyes, eyeshadow in any of the thousands of available shades are a great addition to any woman’s cosmetic arsenal.

With so many eyeshadow options to choose from, finding the right brand for your skin can be intimidating. Most drugstores now carry selections of eyeshadow from at least 10 different manufacturers, while department and make-up specialty stores carry many times that number. For those who are considering switching brands, or are buying their first make-up kit, one of the best ways to try new types of eyeshadow is to visit a department store that will provide a make-up consultation. However, these consultations are only available in certain regions and may come with a hefty price tag if you are pressured into buying every product that is used. If you live in an area where the selection is limited, many online stores provide full lines of even hard to find brands at a discount.

Elizabeth Arden has been a leader in high quality, long lasting make-up for decades. This high quality and good taste ensures that even the most discerning customers will love the Elizabeth Arden eyeshadow line. These eyeshadow cosmetics are available in a number of color palettes and have long been favored by those who are looking for a classic work or evening appropriate style. Though not often found in drug stores, this brand is a staple at the cosmetic counters of department stores across the country and is priced at around $20-$30.

If you are looking for different eyeshadow ideas, Jane eyeshadow is a great choice for anything from muted pastels to smoky grays. Compacts are sold in single color varieties as well as combinations that are designed to highlight the natural color of the wearer’s eyes. In addition to the traditional pressed powder options, Jane offers a line of liquid eyeshadow that will give anyone a younger, dewy look. If you are hoping to change your make-up look, online guides can help anyone with application and color selection. Depending on the retailer, Jane cosmetics range in price from around $12-$30.

Though initially confined to the online, niche market, mineral eyeshadow has caught on with a wider audience. One of the best selling points for mineral cosmetics is that they are 100% natural. This means that even those with sensitive skin need not worry about allergic reactions in most cases. There are a few popular brands that specialize in mineral cosmetics, selling primarily loose power eyeshadow. To smooth application, consider investing in an eyeshadow brush to be used with your mineral powder. This will ensure that it is applied correctly and evenly, and help to cover any fine lines around the eyes. There is a wide range in the cost and colors available in mineral shadows.

The last brand that will be discussed is Benefit eyeshadow. Benefit has become a favorite of make-up artists and the home user both for its beautiful color selection as well as its creaseless application. Those who wear Benefit will find that this shadow lasts all day, without settling into creases in the eyelids, which makes you look tired and ages your eyes. Available in creams and powders with a matte finish, Benefit cosmetics are sold at the leading make-up stores as well as online.

No matter what your budget, the number of eyeshadow brands available online and in stores guarantees that you can find the right one for your look.

For many women, getting into mom’s eye shadow is their first chance to apply make-up—sometimes to laughable results! Without knowledge of how to select proper eyeshadow shades or how to wield an eye shadow brush, many little girls are attracted to mom’s most vibrant <a href="http://theeyeshadow.com/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=45"title="" >violet eye shadow, which they then apply from lash line to eyebrow! It can seem like young girls are born knowing that eye shadow is a great way to bring attention to one’s eyes. However, it is important to learn how to use eye shadow correctly so you are getting the right kind of attention!

The first step in learning how to apply eye shadow is to take an honest look at your eye color. Your eye color plays a big role in the eye shadow shades you select. Brown eyed women have a range of options available to them, as any color will bring out their beautiful eye color. Blue-eyed women will find that rich, warm shades of brown and peach will do the most to bring attention to their eyes. Women with green or hazel eyes should experiment with golden browns, taupes, soft peaches, and shades of violet and purple. If you are one of those rare women with grey eyes, give charcoal, brown or purple a try. Along with your eye color, your skin tone will also influence which shades and tones you choose. Finding the right shade is easier than ever today as many brands are now marketing eye shadows based on the buyer’s eye color.

Along with choosing the best colors and shades to highlight your eyes, you must also choose between powder, mineral and cream eye shadows. Probably the most easily accessible form of eye shadow is powder. Powder can provide a finished, matte look but women with dry skin should be careful. Powder eyeshadow can also look floury on dry skin. Mineral eye shadow is a powder that comes in a loose form. Today, mineral make up also refers to make up that is 100% natural and made of pure minerals. Mineral eye shadow is excellent for anyone looking for an eco-friendly eye shadow. Mineral eye shadow gives a softer, more see-through coverage than powder or cream shadows. Cream eye shadow provides a more natural feeling coverage but also provides a more satiny finish than powder or mineral eye shadows. For the best of both worlds, you can also try a cream to powder eye shadow that will give you the smooth application of a cream with the matte finish of a powder.

The proper applicator can also make a big difference in the finished look. Powder and mineral eye shadows are typically applied with an eye shadow brush, while creams are best applied with a sponge. Again, many brands will supply the applicator as part of the eye shadow set.

Whatever shades or types of eye shadow you choose, you should have no trouble finding the perfect eye shadow to give you the standout eyes you have always desired. So, pretend you are a little girl getting into your mom’s makeup and try out some of today’s great new options!

Balancing eye makeup colors with your own complexion and eye color while following current trends can be tricky, not to mention applying it in a way that is subtle and noticeable at the same time.

The 1980s wild and thick eye makeup made a brief return to the fashion runways during the last few years, but that trend is apparently over. Fashion Week 2009 gave way to warmer, softer touches of color mostly in earthy shades of green, brown, and gray. As a result, women everywhere will be have to re-learn how to use a delicate touch with their makeup brushes.

Luckily, there are products out that can help. Coming from San Francisco, there is a Benefit eye shadow kit that includes illustrated systematic application instructions for a professionally contoured eye. The kit includes pink, cocoa, and chocolate eyeshadow shades, which fit perfectly with the 2009 eye makeup trends of rich earth tones. If you need even more help or some fresh look ideas, most makeup product websites have tips and tutorials.

Now that we are heading more into the winter season, many women might want to add a little more shimmer and smokiness to their look, especially for those holiday parties. To pull this off, look to the queen of shimmer, Elizabeth Arden. Golden Goddess Shimmer Cream Eye shadow can be purchased for $11.99 at online retailers. That pricing really is a bargain because most Elizabeth Arden eye shadow products go for twenty dollars and up.

Another tip from the fashion and makeup gurus of 2009 is that contoured cheeks are back and will complement smoky eyes just enough to be noticeable. If you have trouble matching blush tones with eye shadow tones, try coating your blush applicator with a hint of the eye shadow you are wearing for a perfect blend. Some of the best makeup artists use their products and tools in unconventional ways to get the best results.

Of course, the newest rage in any makeup line, including eye shadow cosmetics, is mineral makeup. One way to try out this new trend without breaking the bank is to buy Be Pure Mineral Eye shadow. This Jane eye shadow is relatively inexpensive and can be found at most drugstores. If you have sensitive eyes or skin, this fragrance free, oil free, and wax free makeup is worth a shot. Contact lens wearers may also find mineral eye shadow much more comfortable to wear.

The natural mineral eyeshadow trend will probably be seen more in the spring of 2010. Spring fashion and makeup usually is teemed with pastel clothing and fresh, clean looking faces. Shimmering eyes and cheekbones will work through the winter and into the spring, but consider changing the sparkling shades you are using. Grays and golden tones were for winter and pinks and soft <a href="http://theeyeshadow.com/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=45"title="" >violet eye shadow are for the spring. Spring is the time for clean and bright beginnings after long dreary winters, and it shows in the fashion and makeup world.

Eye shadow cosmetics are the best way to accentuate your eyes and add drama to your look. However, it is important not to go overboard: if you have heavy or unblended eye shadow, you will look like a beginner. The key to having great, professional looking eye shadow is to make sure you blend it properly when applying it to your eyelids. It is also important to pick eyeshadow shades that compliment your eye color. Sometimes that means picking a color that contrasts with your eye color, to make them stand out, or you might want to choose a color that compliments your eye color in a more subtle way if you are going for a more conservative look. This choice is important, and has everything to do with your look. If you are going out for dinner or to a nightclub, where the setting will be dark or chaotic, you should choose a contrasting color, so that your eyes are accentuated in a dramatic way, calling attention to them. However, this would be inappropriate for daytime wear, due to the exaggerated nature of the effect. For regular, day-to-day use, it is best to choose a subtle color, similar to that of your eyes, that simply strengthens them without calling too much attention to your makeup. As a rule of thumb, blue eyes look better with a color that is darker than the eye, while brown and black eyes are better accentuated with a lighter shade. Either can accentuate green, gray, and hazel eyes.

Eye shadow is applied to the eye area with an eye shadow brush, which features soft bristles that are not abrasive on your eyes, but stiff and shapely enough to provide the level of control you need. It is best to use a broad brush for general application, and a very fine brush or pencil for details such as eye lining. Eye shadows can come in creams or powders, so make sure you have the right applicator for the kind of eye shadow you are using. Powder eyeshadow is applied with a brush, while cream eye shadow can be applied with a finger, sponge applicator or even directly from an applicator tip on the product.

Mineral eye shadow is a great solution for those with sensitive skin and conscientious consumers. The best mineral eye shadows are 100% mineral based and do not have parabens, chemical dyes or preservatives. Parabens have been shown in some studies (but not others) to have hormonal effects on users, including in the realm of estrogen/testosterone production. Chemical dyes are objectionable to some users because they are not naturally derived, and preservatives are usually avoided for a combination of these reasons. Some people may not mind using a powdered blush with these ingredients, but would not use an eye shadow that uses them because of the proximity of the product to the eyes, which are more sensitive than other areas of the face. It is good to do some research on your eye shadow brand of choice if you these are concerns of yours. There are plenty of options for people with allergies or other aversions to synthetic makeup.

People have been using eyeshadow and other cosmetics ever since there were people to use them. Cosmetics can be traced as far back as ten thousand years B.C. Egyptians of that time period used scented oils and ointments for cleansing purposes and to mask unfavorable body odor. Eyeshadow in particular was believed to help restore eyesight and reduce infection.

Usually made from powder, eyeshadow can also come in a liquid, pencil, or mousse form. How you apply your eyeshadow depends upon the type of eyeshadow and desired look. Typically, you apply powder eyeshadow using your finger, a sponge, or an eyeshadow brush. Perhaps the most important aspect of applying eyeshadow is proper blending. Also available for use is an eye shadow primer, which prevents the cosmetic from migrating to creases or fading away. Most people use eyeshadow simply to improve their look, but it is also commonly used in theater in order to create a memorable appearance for actors by using bright or even ridiculous shades of eyeshadow. Eyeshadow is generally used to compliment the natural pigmentation of a woman’s eyelids by using contrasting shades of eyeshadow.

There are many different types of eyeshadow shades as well. Most eyeshadow comes in a set of three or four complementing shades. The lightest of the three colors is known as the highlighter and the darkest is normally used in the crease. To apply, lightly apply the base (middle color) all over your eyelid then blend the darker color from your eyelash line to the crease of your lid. Once the two colors are properly blended, apply the highlighter near your brow, blending well. Remember, it is very important that you do not use too much eyeshadow in order to prevent a gaudy or silly look.

Removing eye shadow is a simple process. When removing eyeshadow, you have a number of different options. The first is to purchase a commercial eye makeup remover. However, a deep cleansing face wash normally would remove all traces of eyeshadow as well. The process is fairly simple. Soap and hot water usually will suffice. Another method of eyeshadow removal is baby oil. Finally, there are also commercial faces wipes designed specifically for such a thing that can be used.

There are many different brands of eyeshadow to choose from. Among these are Elizabeth Arden eyeshadow and Jane eyeshadow. When shopping, there are a number of different things you need to look out for. First, you need to keep in mind the pigmentation of your skin and color of your eyes. You want to look for an eyeliner shade that will compliment your eyes and skin. Another important factor that is sometimes overlooked is the ingredients. Sometimes certain people can have an allergic reaction to eyeshadow and other cosmetics. Finally, it never hurts to be thrifty in this day and age. Often, companies will have an eye shadow sale and you will be able to get your eyeshadow at a much cheaper price.

Most women have been fascinated by eyeshadow since they were little girls. It seemed the purview of fairy princesses, good witches, and glamorous movie stars. For most, it was one of the very first make up products they were permitted to wear when they reached their teenage years and for many the darker, the heavier, and the more glittery the better.

Problem is that many of us have never quite gotten the hang of applying this magic product properly. Yes, we have scoured countless fashion magazines and viewed the online video tips yet we never quite achieve that glamor look. Our eyes do not seem to “pop” as promised and frankly sometimes, we just look like for an advertisement for what not to do. So what is the answer? In two words, apply sparingly.

Instead of sifting through the countless eyeshadow shades that are in your make up drawer, considering tossing them out and starting over. Just as a good chef’s pantry has a solid stock of staple items, so should every woman’s beauty collection. With eye make up the basics, include quality neutral shadows, in either a multi-shadow tray or individual colors of tans, light browns, creams, and grays.

Okay, armed with a nice selection of neutral shadows it is time to apply them, remember the key word is sparingly. While many of us simply use the little foam applicator that comes with the shadow, for a flawless look, invest in an eye shadow brush. A brush is the secret to blending and blending is the secret to wearing shadow.

A recent trend is to start with a shadow primer, yes, just like a painting job, a primer helps to absorb or set the eyeshadow. This can be particularly helpful if your morning make up application is destined to go from day to date night. Shadow base really does help to keep the make up in place.

Most experts agree that three colors are the minimum for a wow look. Most choose a taupe shade for the base color, generally as light as can be found. The main color is applied to the lid and a coordinated highlight color is used in the eyelid crease. A tip here, start with the lightest color, the base and then move into the darker colors. Usually this means base first, lid second and the crease color last and lightly. Once all are in place, blend gently with the brush but be certain to blend well.

The jury is out on powder eye shadow versus cream eye shadow. This really is a matter of personal choice and the texture and consistency that each individual finds as the easiest to work with. Mineral eye shadow is very popular right now and many mineral beauty products are great for multi-tasking. A mineral powder bronzing or warming foundation can easily double as a shadow color.

Finally, there are a few eye shadow faux pas to avoid at all costs. Never use a deep or dark color directly on the brow bone. The look is far too dramatic for anyone other than runway models. Glitter and shimmer should be reserved for the younger set, they can really highlight wrinkles, and this is simply not a good thing. If a big event or holiday celebration begs for shimmer, use only the tiniest bit of gold on the brow bone.
