Eyeshadow can make a powerful and dramatic statement.  You can use the benefits of eyeshadow to make your eyes look larger, smaller, wider, farther apart, or closer together.  Eyeshadow can make or break your look so it is essential that you know how to choose eyeshadow and apply it properly.

Eyeshadow is so important because your eyes are such a prominent feature.  Many people will notice your eyes first and you can encourage this by using eyeshadow to make your eyes look beautiful and sophisticated.

Types of Eyeshadow; Sheer eyeshadow will give you a tint of color.  Keep in mind that it will look much darker in the container than on your eyelid.  It is a great choice if you want to experiment with color without being overly dramatic.  Use sheer eyeshadow if you want to achieve a sophisticated and subtle look.  This type of shadow is perfect for all types of skin.

Cream eyeshadow is used when you want a glossy look.  Creams come in many different eyeshadow shades so you have plenty of color choices.  Make sure you keep the lid closed tightly because cream eyeshadows have a tendency to dry out quickly.  Cream eyeshadows are convenient because you do not even need an eyeshadow brush to apply it.  Simply use your finger to blend the shadow on your lid.  Cream shadows are good if you have normal or dry skin because it has a creamy texture.

Matte eyeshadow is highly concentrated with pigment.  Use a matte shadow if you want a strong, boldly colored look.  If you are going out for the evening and want to try out a dramatic look, consider using a matte eyeshadow.  Use a charcoal color over your lid and blend it upward into the crease.  Before applying a matte shadow, dust on some sheer powder over your lid.  This will prevent the matte shadow from clinging to any oily areas on your eye lid.

Liquid eyeshadow is used for a shimmering look.  It also is great to use as a base for powdered shadows.  Liquid shadows are not easy to find and the color choices are few.  Like cream shadows, liquids can gather in the crease of your eyelid so they may not be suitable if you have oily skin.

Eyeshadow Tips; If you are using glittery or dark shadow, be sure to finish applying the shadow to your eyes before putting other makeup on your face.  This way, you can wipe away any fallen specks of shadow without ruining the rest of your makeup.

Use a makeup remover to wipe away any unwanted particles that fell under your eyes or onto your cheeks.  This is a good way to remove the shadow without tugging on the delicate skin around your eyes.
